From the time she moved from England
to New England, Janet Falkenthal was a regular clothing consignor, dropping off items at
a local shop she used to frequent in CT. She went from consignor to consignment shop owner in 1984
when a business opportunity presented itself and her passion took flight. In the summer of 1984, The Fashion Exchange
was born in a small retail space in Newtown, CT.
The
business steadily grew. In 1995, she moved to a bigger space: the famous pink house at 109 South Main Street in
Newtown - - a 1758 vintage Saltbox. The quaint pink house provides the perfect backdrop, adding to the
charm and welcoming ambience of The Fashion Exchange shopping experience.
In the summer of 2009, Janet opened a second shop, in the town she has called "home"
for 42 years: Danbury, CT. The sister store is housed in a large, bright and elegant storefront, located near
one of the city's busiest shopping hubs. While other retailers are struggling in the economy, The Fashion Exchange
continues to thrive and meet the expectations of smart shoppers looking for high quality designer fashions at
great prices. With 25 years of experience in consignment retail, Janet Falkenthal continues to set the bar
for the industry.
Consignment never looked so good.
